Neighborhood Group Honors Local
Antiques Dealer for Preservation Efforts

The
Cathedral Area Preservation Association presenteded the
late antiques dealer and CAPA member, Dave Hendrix, with
its 6th annual Local Preservation Award at the May 4th Joliet
City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
The award was presented posthumously and was accepted by
Dave's wife, Margaret.
Dave
Hendrix exhibited exceptional leadership in downtown City
Center as an entrepreneur, as a preservationist and as a
talented businessman. His commitment to the City of Joliet
and the success of the downtown area is to be commended.
CAPA is pleased to honor Dave's memory in this special way.
The
CAPA Local Preservation Award was created in 1999 as part
of our involvement with the National Trust for Historic
Preservation as a way to recognize outstanding local preservation
efforts. The award is presented annually during the month
of May to celebrate National Preservation Week, which this
year, will take place the week of May 3-8.
Past
recipients of this award include Barb Newberg, City Planner
for the City of Joliet, Russ + Carlson Architecture, Mayor
Arthur Schultz and the City of Joliet, the Pritz Family,
and most recently, Bob Nachtrieb and Lisa Dorothy.
