Joliet Neighborhood Group Honors Local
Antiques Dealer for Preservation Efforts

The Cathedral Area Preservation Association presenteded the late antiques dealer and CAPA member, Dave Hendrix, with its 6th annual Local Preservation Award at the May 4th Joliet City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The award was presented posthumously and was accepted by Dave's wife, Margaret.

Dave Hendrix exhibited exceptional leadership in downtown City Center as an entrepreneur, as a preservationist and as a talented businessman. His commitment to the City of Joliet and the success of the downtown area is to be commended. CAPA is pleased to honor Dave's memory in this special way.

The CAPA Local Preservation Award was created in 1999 as part of our involvement with the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a way to recognize outstanding local preservation efforts. The award is presented annually during the month of May to celebrate National Preservation Week, which this year, will take place the week of May 3-8.

Past recipients of this award include Barb Newberg, City Planner for the City of Joliet, Russ + Carlson Architecture, Mayor Arthur Schultz and the City of Joliet, the Pritz Family, and most recently, Bob Nachtrieb and Lisa Dorothy.
